Reciprocal Delighting

Overwhelming gratitude sweeps over my soul every time I think about "delighting" in God!
Did you know that when we delight in the Lord, He delights in US?  So as I am striving to walk in His path, to meditate on His Word and to keep my eyes focused on Him AND when I try to remain pure, when I love others and share the good news about salvation, HE delights in Me?  That's what it says!  How blessed are we?
According to the first chapter of Ephesians, it was His desire to create a people who would delight in Him. In his "commentary"  The Message, Eugene Peterson says "Long before he laid down earth's foundation, he had us in mind and settled on us as the focus of his love"   A couple of sentences later Mr. Peterson adds this parentheses "What pleasure he took planning this".   Don't you just love that?  Such a beautiful thought! And Holy scripture backs it up!
In Genesis we se that after God's created man He said " it's good "  From that time on, God never left mankind.  He had a plan to keep us in relationship with Him, knowing we would disappoint Him! That's a incredible love!
When God rescued His children from slavery, the Promise Keeping God protected them and provided guidance, physical needs and victory over enemies for them as they trekked toward THEIR land. In Numbers 14: 8,  after spying out the land, Joshua says, "if the Lord delights in us, He will bring us into this land and give it to us" (ESV).
According to Psalm 44:3, God gave them victory over their enemies because He delighted in them. In Zephaniah 3:17, the prophet writes, "The Lord God is with you...He takes great delight in you...He will rejoice over you with singing "   (edits mine..read all of it).
This post would be 7 or 8 pages long if I mentioned all the verses of God delighting in His people.  But one has only to look at the way He blessed us. John 3:16 tells us about the most precious of all gifts. We are surrounded by blessings....the kind a Father who delights in His child, would give! They used to call that "spoiling".   Every single day God spoils me.  Jeremiah 9:24 "let one who boasts, boast about this, that they have understanding to know Me, that i am the Lord who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness  on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord "
I am so grateful...boasting even now!
Blessings,
Neva
